Abstract
Calf feeds comprise a chlorophyll-containing vegetable material and a fat such as tallow, coconut oil or a mixture of the two, the fat being present in an amount of at least 10% by weight of the composition. The vegetable material is preferably in pulverized condition. The composition may contain vitamins, substances containing mineral and trace elements, and antibiotics such as chlortetracycline. In use, the compositions may be mixed with water, skim milk, skim milk or skim milk powder and water. Examples are of (1) making a dry powder by absorbing 100 kg. of a molten 80% tallow-20% coconut oil mixture in 300 kg. of pulverized grass, 80 g. of such powder in 1 l. of skim milk being used (2) making a dry powder by absorbing 15 kg. of the fat of Example 1 in 15 kgs. of pulverized grass and 60 kg. of skim milk powder, 140 g. of such powder in 1 l. of water being used.
