Abstract
959,927. Manifolding units. DELPLANQUE CARBON PAPERS Ltd. May 22, 1963 [May 25, 1962], No. 20169/62. Heading B6A. A manifolding unit comprises a number of sheets having copy surfaces and carbon surfaces provided on contiguous faces, the sheets being held together by the mating of self-adhesive areas on each of the contiguous faces. The selfadhesive is such that it will only adhere to alike adhesive, and the bond can readily be broken. As shown in Fig. 2, the copy sheets 21, 24, and 25, and the carbon sheets 22 are of the same size, but the sheets 22 extend beyond the copy sheets at 26 and are free of carbon at such ends. The lines of adhesive 23 are staggered in such a way that a collection of copy sheets, or of carbon sheets, will not stick together during handling and packing. The projecting ends 26 of the carbon sheets facilitate subsequent separation of the sheets from the copy sheets, but this operation can be facilitated by cutting off the corners of the carbon sheets, in which case the sheets are all of the same size and exactly superimposed. The width of the lines of adhesive on the copy sheets can be more than twice the width of those on the carbon sheets, and in a modification of this arrangement (Fig. 4, not shown), the carbon sheets are omitted, and certain copy sheets have transfer coatings on their back faces. Fig. 5 shows copy sheets 51, 54, 55 and carbon sheets 52 of the same size, the top sheet 51 having a line 53 of adhesive on its under side, the sheet 54 with a line 53 of adhesive on each side, the sheet 55 with a line 53 of adhesive on its top side, and the carbon sheets 52 with upright lines 58 of adhesive on both sides. The lines of adhesive 58 are staggered as shown, so that carbon sheets 52 can be packed without adhering to one another. All the copy sheets can be perforated just below the lines of adhesive to facilitate separation from the carbon sheets.
