Abstract

The invention comprises dyes of the formula <FORM:0958925/C3/1> in which "alkyl" is an alkyl residue which may be substituted by a phenyl residue, one X is an -OH group, the other X is an amino group which may be alkylated, one Z is a chlorine or bromine atom and the other Z is an alkyl group which may be substituted by a benzene or heterocyclic radical. The dyes are made by treating a compound of the formula <FORM:0958925/C3/2> or a mixture of such compounds with a chlorinating or brominating agent, or by treating a compound of the formula <FORM:0958925/C3/3> with an alkylating agent, in which formulae, "alkyl," X and Z have the values above and one Y is hydrogen and the other Y is an alkyl group which may be substituted by a benzene or heterocyclic radical. The dyes dye aromatic polyesters from aqueous dispersion in blue shades.
