Abstract
958,837. Grinding and polishing wood. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. Oct. 14, 1960 [Oct. 17, 1959], No. 35210/60. Heading B3D. Equipment for finishing the surfaces of wooden workpieces comprises a work-table and a band grinder or polisher mounted on a common stand at the required distance apart, the grinder or polisher being driven by a power tool attached thereto. A member 13 has a clamp 14 by which it is mounted on a vertical support tube 17 and has two guide sleeves 15 from which extend stays 16 clamped in the sleeves by set screws 18. Bearing blocks 19 secured by screws to the free ends of the stays each has a pin 20 and a set screw 21 located in concentric slots 24, 23 in a plate 22 secured to the underside of a table 11 supporting the workpiece 29. The set screws 21 secure the table 11 in the adjusted angular position. A fence 25 is provided. A band grinder or polisher comprises an arm 31 to which is secured a plate 32 backing one flight of a grinding or polishing band 33 trained round rollers 34, 35. The roller 34 is mounted on a pin 39 on a bracket 36 slidable on guide pins 37 projecting from the end of the arm 31, springs 38 around the guide pins urging the bracket outwardly. A spring (not shown) urges the bracket 36 against the head of a screw 41 passing through a slot 40 in the bracket. The roller 35 is carried by a mandrel held in the chuck of an electric hand drill mounted on the grinder or polisher by a clamp 45, located on the arm 31, adjacent to which is a clamp 46 by which the grinder or polisher is mounted on the vertical support tube 17. In use, the band grinder or polisher is gradually lowered until the point of a screwed stud 47 mounted in the arm 31 finally abuts the table 11.
