Abstract
958,556. Self-feeding brushes. A. S. BRITTON. Aug. 16, 1962 [Sept. 3, 1961], No. 31428/62. Heading A4K. [Also in Divisions A5, B1 and B7] An aerating appliance has a hollow bulbous body in two detachable parts 2, 3, the lower having a perforated plate 7 which may support a block 6 of solid material such as soap or detergent for dissolving in the water stream. An outlet nozzle 10 is a push fit on ribs 9, between which air is drawn to become entrained with and aerate the water, foam formation being assisted by perforated plates 11 and screens 12. If the nozzle 10 is removed a spray is produced by the plates 11; the lower half 3 of the body may be detached and a plain water shower produced by the shower plate 5. The appliance has a connector 4 for a faucet and a non-return valve 21 to ensure drainage of the body. The nozzle 10 may be replaced by an elongated douche nozzle. In another application for vehicle &c. washing the appliance may be mounted in combination with a spray head 19 on a tubular handle 13, either the appliance or the spray head being connected to the interior of the handle by means of the swivel connection 18. A detachable and adjustable brush 17 is also mounted on the handle; a sponge or squeegee may be fitted on the brush base 16 instead of the brush head.
