Abstract

957,353. Photo-electric recording spectrometers. SIR HOWARD GRUBB PARSONS & CO. Ltd. Nov.23, 1962 [Jan. 26, 1962], No. 3087/62. Drawings to Specification. Heading G1A. [Also in Division G3] In a spectrometer for recording infra-red and other spectra against a linear wavenumber scale on a moving chart, of the kind described in Specification 897,242 the chart moves at constant speed and means are provided including a driving shaft for traversing a spectrum produced in the spectrometer across an exit slit, such that for one particular spectral region which is scanned without a break d#/dt α#<SP>2</SP> d#/dt where # is the wavelength of radiation focused on the exit slit at any given time t and ó is the angular rotation of the shaft. An electrical control system of the kind described in the aforementioned Specification is used for producing this non-linear motion of the driving shaft causing the traversing of the spectrum across the slit.
