Abstract

957,217. Moulding thin-walled articles by spraying. E. MERCER. June 25, 1962 [June 24, 1961], No. 22928/61. Heading B5A. In a method of moulding a thin-walled article of synthetic plastics material, or latex, shaped formers 34 are progressed on an endless conveyer 25 through a liquid curtain of the material, formed by spraying the liquid through adjustable nozzles 10, each former being turned whilst being coated to ensure that the material is applied all over its surface. The conveyer 25 carries carriages 30 from which depend pivoted supports 31 comprising a pulley 33 and a projecting rod 32 to which the former 34 is attached. The pulley 33 engages with a rail 35 below and to one side of the conveyer track 26 to rotate the former 34 and to cause it to project substantially horizontally whilst passing the coating station. Excess material is collected in a trough 19 and is recirculated through a header tank 12 where it is deaerated. Specification 957,216 is referred to.
