Abstract

956,309. Rotary lawn sprinklers. Z. RAEM. Jan. 24, 1962 [Jan. 29, 1961], No. 2608/62. Heading B2F. A rotatable sprinkler has a casing 5, Fig. 1, with an inlet and an outlet opening 6, a freely moving rounded body 7 enclosed therein, a curved endless path for the body formed on the circumferential wall, the casing 5 being connected to a tubular arm 2, rotatable in a nipple 1, which ends in a nozzle 3 and projects water substantially tangentially and freely through the casing to the outlet, and the casing being so positioned relative to the nozzle 3 that the jet will strike the body 7 causing it to roll along the path, re-enter the jet and be caused to strike the circumferential wall thereby turning stepwise the tubular arm with every strike. The rounded body may be a steel ball or a disc. The cage may be a circular or elliptical cylinder, and the inclination of its broad plane to the horizontal may be adjustable, Fig. 3 (not shown). The curved path may be stepped as at 10, Fig. 4, to cause the body to jump and strike with greater impact and a pin 15 may be provided to cause the body to enter the jet path.
