956,201. Producing bearings; jointing. FAFNIR BEARING CO. July 11, 1962, No. 26746/62. Headings B3A and B3V. A method of producing an antifriction self aligning bearing comprises the steps of placing an antifriction liner 13 within an outer ring 10, Fig. 3, bonding the liner and ring together by applying an outward radial pressure to the liner of the heated assembly, the liner and, if desired, the ring 10 having previously been coated with adhesive, placing an inner ring 15 within the outer ring and liner, Fig. 5, deforming the outer ring and liner to fit the inner ring, Fig. 6, and finally heating the bearing to a predetermined temperature for a predetermined period to obtain a preselected degree of looseness between the inner and outer rings. The liner may be of nylon or "Dacron," " Teflen," " Kel-F," or " Flourothene " (Registered Trade Marks), and in order to assure a good bond can have woven into one side of its low friction fibres, bendable fibres of materials such as rayon, nylon, wool, copper, steel or glass.
