A drop-moulding machine for confectionery of the composite type comprises separate hoppers 1, 2 for shell and core material connected respectively to rows of barrels 7, 8 containing plungers 10 in a pump body 5, a valve 25, 26 located in a chamber 18 in the bottom of body 5 for controlling delivery from barrels 7, 8 and a ducting chamber provided with a delivery nozzle for each pair of barrels 7, 8; the port 38 of the chamber associated with each pump 8 extending to an outlet 39 in the nozzle coaxially within an outlet 41 from the port 37 associated through the valve with the pump 7. The plungers 10 are simultaneously actuated by crosshead 11 driven by shaft 15 through eccentric 14 and link rod 12, and shell material from hopper 1 passes through pipes 6 and manifold 9 which has two ports 21, 22 leading to chamber 18 for each barrel 7. Hopper 2 is connected to chamber 18 by two ports 23, 24 and valveplates 25, 26 are connected at one end by cam unit 27 which maintains them in either of two selected positions. Plates 25, 26 have ports 30, 30A, 32, respectively, for the passage of shell material and 31, 33, respectively, Figs. 6, 7 (not shown), for the passage of core material and by suitable relative movement of the plates actuated through clutches to shafts 15, 48, articles of plain, sandwich, or of the form shown in Fig. 5 may be produced. The valve arrangement is such that to suit particular forms of confection, shell or core material which is not required to be extruded is returned to its respective hopper.
