Abstract
955,883. Packing cups etc.; boxes. HARTMANN FIBRE Ltd. Nov. 5, 1962 [Nov. 3, 1961], No. 39483/61. Headings B8C and B8P. A separating tray or leaf for use in packing open-ended articles has projections on one side for locating the mouths of the articles and corresponding cavities on the other side for locating the bases of articles in the adjoining layer, the side walls of the projections and corresponding cavities having an annular shoulder 4 to assist in the engagement of the base and mouth of the article. The projections 1 are spaced to leave room for the cup handles to be positioned between pairs of parallel projections 2, 3 formed in the leaf. In use, the leaves all face the same way, Fig. 5, with the cups, in an inverted position, sandwiched between them in such a way that the mouths of the cups in one layer engage with or around the shoulders 4 in the projections 1 in one leaf and their bases engage with the end surface of the cavities or the shoulders associated therewith of the adjacent leaf, the handles of the cups projecting diagonally between the projections 2, 3. The same leaves may thus be used for cups of various shapes but of similar size. Any number of layers of cups may be packed this way either to be placed in a container or to be held in place by wire strapping.
