Abstract

955,059. Radio reflectors. TELEFUNKEN PATENTVERWERTUNGS G.m.b.H. Nov. 30, 1962 [Dec. 1, 1961], No. 45385/62. Heading H4A. The invention relates to radio reflectors such as are mounted at the top of a mast and excited from the base of the mast to radiate in a substantially horizontal plane. In these known arrangements phase errors are introduced at the edges of the reflector due to its proximity to the exciting element and this defect is overcome according to the invention by means of a reflector comprising a plurality of equal reflector portions (three as shown) inclined at a small angle " x " to one another. In use such a reflector is arranged so that the joins between adjacent sections lie in the plane of deflection as defined by the exciting element, the reflector and the distant receiver with the long axis " a " of the reflector normal to this plane. The ratio a: b is preferably 1.5 and the angle " x " is defined in terms of the dimension " a," the height of the reflector above the ground and the total angle of reflection-
