Abstract
954,769. Synchronous machines. LLOYD DYNAMOWERKE G.m.b.H. March 19, 1963, No. 10874/63. Heading H2A. In a self-regulating self-exciting synchronous dynamo-electric machine, e.g. alternator or motor having relatively rotatable field and armature systems, the field winding 15 is energized through a plurality of parallel circuits, each comprising a serially connected rectifier 17 and secondary winding 18 the windings 18 forming part of an auto-transformer 16 having one main winding 19 per phase which is excited by the machine armature winding 10. In the embodiment shown, the field winding rotates and is fed via slip rings (not shown) with load current and voltage dependent components which are provided by a current transformer 13 and a choke 14 respectively. Each main winding 19 has a plurality of tapping points connected to a switch-over device 20 by which the number of turns can be adjusted and the direction of current flow in the main winding reversed. The star points of the main windings 19 and the current transformers 13 are interconnected, and the voltage drop across each secondary winding 18 is more than three times the permissible variation of the forward voltage of the individual rectifiers.
