Abstract

A pulverulent substance is agglomerated by spraying it with from 2 to 15% by weight of an organic liquid which may be a paraffin hydrocarbon, a polyglycol, an aliphatic alcohol, an ester of an aliphatic alcohol or a solution of a urea-formaldehyde condensation product, and then compressing it by deaerating it or by spraying it and either radially deflecting it or directing it on to baffle-plates. In an example, gas black is sprayed with 5% by weight of the gas black of dioctyl phthalate and compressed by deaeration on a rotary filter with suction.ALSO:A pulverulent substance is agglomerated by spraying it with from 2 to 15% by weight of an organic liquid which may be a paraffin hydrocarbon, a polyglycol, an aliphatic alcohol, an ester of an aliphatic alcohol or a solution of a urea-formaldehyde condensation product, and then compressing it by deaerating it or by spraying it and either radically deflecting it or directing it on to baffle plates. In an example potassium hexyl xanthate powder was sprayed with 2% of its weight of decyl alcohol and the mixture was subsequently compressed on a rotary filter under reduced pressure.ALSO:A pulverulent substance is agglomerated by spraying it with from 2 to 15% by weight of an organic liquid which may be a paraffin hydrocarbon, a polyglycol, an aliphatic alcohol, an ester of an aliphatic alcohol or a solution of a urea-formaldehyde condensation product and then compressing it by deaerating it or by spraying it and either radially deflecting it or directing it on to baffle-plates. Specific examples are given where dyes are mixed with dioctyl phthalate, xylene, polyethylene glycol, spindle oil, and urea formaldehyde.
