Abstract

A wind turbine comprises a blade whose shape and/or relative angle to the wind is automatically controlled in response to the wind direction and speed. As shown, the blade has adjustable segments along its length and trim tabs, and is computer-controlled to maintain a constant rotational speed. Power is taken off by concentric shafts to generators at ground level. The turbine and tower turn into the wind using standard weather-cocking principles.
