Abstract

952,010. Brush filters. HALL & KAY Ltd. Jan. 29, 1963 [March 1, 1962], No. 7949/62. Heading B1T. A filter element 14 comprises a brush 15 surrounded by a perforate sheath 18 which is flexible and has external longitudinal ribs 19. A plurality of such elements 14 are disposed within a rectangular frame 11 so that the ribs 19 of adjacent elements engage between one another and prevent passage of air between the elements. The frame 11 comprises four channelsectioned members 12 of which one has a side wall 12a removable; the elements 14 abut against a screen 13 supported in the frame. Each element 14 is formed by incorporating bristles 16 between the helices of two wires 17 twisted together. The sheath 18 is preferably made of hard but flexible extruded thermoplastic material. The frame 11 is releasably secured in a surround 21 by a bar 22. A plurality of frames 11 containing elements 14 may be disposed in parallel in a single surround or may be arranged in series.
