Abstract
951,985. Recording-apparatus. CLEVITE CORPORATION. Nov.14, 1961 [Nov. 22, 1960], No. 40662/61. Heading G1J. [Also in Division H3] An electric recording system comprising a stylus electrode fed with a pulsating D. C. potential and connected in parallel with an inductive impedance selectively adjustable between high and low values so as to control whether the stylus records or not. A roll of paper 20 is fed past a recording stylus 16 connected to a source of D. C. pulses 10 through a resistor R1. A transformer winding W1 is connected between the electrode 16 and the base electrode 18 and has normally such a high impedance that the recording pulses are effective. When, however, a control potential at terminal 30 renders a transistor 24 conducting the impedance of the winding W1 becomes effectively very low so that the recording pulses are diverted and recording ceases. Transistor 24 may be supplied from a further transistor amplifier in which case for the same input signal the system will record when the first embodiment is not recording and vice versa, (Fig. 2, not shown). In a further embodiment two such systems are connected in parallel whereby when one records the other does not and vice versa so that the absence of a trace on either roll indicates a fault. The system is particularly applicable to monitoring the occurrence or duration of events.
