The body-supporting platform A of a sledge is mounted on a pair of runners by means of a rigid A frame E and pair of pivoted links C, D so that when the platform is tilted laterally the runners are inclined in the same direction. The undersides of the runners may be convex across their widths and lengths may be provided with grooves and may have downwardly depending projections at their rear edges.
