Abstract
A method of reconstituting stems of tobacco leaf with tobacco leaf dust comprises the steps of moistening the stems, of adding tobacco dust and milled shorts to the moistened stems, of flattening the stems between two rollers to approximately the thickness of the lamina portion of normal tobacco leaf, and of cutting the flattened product. The tobacco dust may be blown on to the stems before they are flattened, the stems may be steeped in tobacco dust before flattening, or one of the rollers may be coated with tobacco dust during the flattening of the stems. The stems are moistened to approximately 30% by weight of water prior to being flattened.
