Abstract

Therapeutic compositions having bacteriostatic and bacteriocidal activity comprise chloramphenical and erythromycin propionate, preferably in the weight ratio range 5 : 1 to 1 : 2. They may be in forms suitable for oral, rectal, vaginal and topical application, e.g. a tablet, pill, capsule, syrup, elixir suppository lotion, salve, cream, liniment or ointment such forms comprising conventional diluents, carriers and excipients and optionally also yeast extract and vitamins.
