[Also in Divisions H1 and H2] A magnetic element for an information storage system has a ferromagnetic core mounted in a non-magnetic insulating device which has a hole aligned with the core hole and contacts to which windings passing through the holes are connected. Figs. 1, 2 and 3 show the toroidal ferromagnetic core 5 which is held in the recess 4 of the discs 1, 2. The windings (there are four in this embodiment) pass through the central hole and two of the slots 3, and terminate on the same side of the discs at two of the contacts 6. A matrix of the elements may be dip soldered to a printed circuit board (Figs. 4 and 5, not shown), or the wires 6 may support a number of the elements (Fig. 11). The support wires may be cut as necessary and interconnected by further wires 15. In another embodiment (Fig. 12) the core is supported in a recess 23 in a portion 22 of the support standing above its base 20 in which the terminals 21 are fitted. The portion 22 may have circumferential grooves to segregate the windings (Fig. 14, not shown).
