Abstract
948,276. Switches held set and freed mechanically. REDON TRUST. July 6, 1961 [July 26, 1960], No. 24447/61. Heading H2B. [Also in Divisions F2 and F3] A delayed-action device particularly intended for land mines or electrical switches comprises a casing 1 with movable cover 2, a plunger 6 and a member 5 having a striker pin or contact 5<SP>1</SP>. The member 5 is urged to rotate by a spring 8, but is locked by the plunger 6. According to the invention the device is operated by applying a large and sustained pressure on cover 2 whereupon member 5 is directly depressed and plunger 6 simultaneously depressed by increase in air pressure above it (see Fig. 5). Subsequent leakage of air between the spaces above and below the plunger 6 allows the plunger to rise under the action of a spring 7 to release member 5 (see Fig. 6). For sudden large pressures the member 5 and plunger 6 are depressed, but maintain their relative positions and return together to the initial position. Various embodiments are described wherein the plunger overlies a striker-pin or contactcarrying member, relative rotation or movement between them being normally prevented by co-operating teeth or locking balls. Also, the casing may be divided into two non- hermetically sealed chambers by a flexible diaphragm attached to the plunger.
