Abstract
948,238. Transistor switching circuits. RAYTHEON CO. March 14, 1962 [Sept. 25, 1961], No. 9810/62. Heading H3T. A switching circuit, Fig. 1, comprises an avalanche transistor 10 with its collector clamped to a potential V 2 greater than the avalanche voltage, but less than the " punchthrough " voltage. As described, the clamp circuit comprises a diode 22 and enables the circuit to be switched into avalanche operation, by a positive input pulse at 14, under a wide range of loading conditions. Two such similar circuits may be cross-coupled to form a bi-stable trigger circuit, Fig. 4, in which the trailing edge of a positive pulse applied at 44 switches the circuit into one state, and that of a positive pulse applied at 54 switches it into the other state.
