A container a for beer has upper and lower superficial protective cylinders b and c extending beyond the ends of the container for strengthening purposes and to form a base for the container. The cylinders are riveted at b<SP>1</SP>, c<SP>1</SP>, a groove a<SP>4</SP> being provided in the container wall to allow this. The ends of the cylinders may be rolled inwardly at b<SP>4</SP>, c<SP>3</SP> and annular bulgings b<SP>5</SP>, c<SP>4</SP> form rolling rings. The container may be made of stainless steel.
