Abstract

1,175,744. Metal casks. P. DESCAMPS. 20 Jan., 1967, No. 3155/67. Heading B8D. A metal cask has protective sleeves 7 which are engaged over the ends of the cask body, and are formed with annular rings 11 of square or rectangular cross-section, the sleeves 7 being secured to the body by deformation into grooves 10 previously formed on the body. The rings 11 may be engaged by the fork of a lifting device when the cask is upright as shown, or may form rolling rings when the cask is on its side. The rings 11 and beaded rims 8 of the sleeves may be solid; and hand holds (12), Fig. 2 (not shown), may be formed in the sleeves. The cask is formed in two parts of stainless steel welded together; and the sleeves may be of aluminium alloy.
