An apparatus for removing residues of textile yarns wound on spools, cops, cones, tubes or bobbins, is characterized in that supports 36 Fig. 4 are fixed to the inner wall of a rotating drum, and are each provided with a coil spring 41 disposed in a circular arc so that the turns thereof are in contact at the inside of the curve and fall out on the outside, the spring being supported so that it is not deformed by the support on which it is mounted. Each support 36 comprises a flat plate having a V-shaped groove on one edge with two pegs 42, 43 to hold the spring, and a rib of flexible material along another edge 38. Bobbins &c. are fed into the drum which may be of polygonal or circular cross-section, through an opening 14 in the end 13 and the drum rotates the bobbins strike the springs and some of the yarns are gripped between the turns of a spring. Lengths of yarn thus unwound from the bobbins are wound around an inner drum 24 which rotates at a faster rate than the outer drum so that the yarns are extracted from the grip of the springs. The bobbins gradually moved down the inclined outer drum and are deflected by a plate 47 through an opening 46. The outer drum is rotated by a motor 19 through one of the rollers 11 which support a circular rail 12 connected to the end 13 of the drum. The inner drum is rotated either from a shaft 15 of the outer drum through pulley system 6, 28, 29, 20 or direct from a separate motor. The yarn is removed from the inner drum by a cutter blade either entering a longitudinal groove, or being pressed against a rib 32<1>. Alternatively the yarn slides off if the inner drum is tapered. A flexible sponge like material preferably covers the inside of the outer drum.
