Abstract

An electrode for a battery (see Division H1) comprises a porous matrix of electro-chemicially active material uniformly dispersed through a thermoplastic resin and has a plurality of thread-like pores having an average diameter of less than one micron. This is achieved by mixing two incompatible thermoplastic resins and the atomic material and working out one of the resins. The permanent resins may be polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene or P.V.C. and the worked resin may be water soluble, e.g. polyethylene oxide, polyethylenic-glycol or polyvinyl pyrrolidone.
