945,283. Opening cartons; feeding collapsed cartons. SVENSKA SOCKERFABRIKS A.B. May 29, 1962 [June 7, 1961], No. 20627/62. Headings B8C and B8G. Collapsed cartons resting as shown at 14<SP>1</SP> (Fig. 1) in troughs 11 on an endless conveyer 10 are opened by engagement with resilient stops 25 which, after they have opened the cartons, pass over the upper faces 14<SP>11</SP> of the cartons to press them into the troughs 11. The cartons are fed, with the edge opposed to the motion of the conveyer 10 lowermost, from a magazine 12 provided with a reciprocating feeding slide 16 which alternately moves the edge folds of the collapsed cartons 14 clear in succession of supporting lips 20b, 20a. The upper edges of the margins of the aperture in the slide 16 may be bevelled. Notches 11<SP>1</SP> in the troughs 11 permit the stops 25 to pass through. The troughs are of such a size that the opened cartons are slightly compressed in them.
