[Also in Divisions A4 and F4] A microwave food heating unit comprises two (or more, if desired) oven compartments separated by a partition wall 2 and having a single common door 3 held closed, when pulled down, for 30 seconds by an electromagnet 5 while plates of food (one per compartment) placed centrally on the glan floors 7 are heated by microwave energy transmitted through permeable hard glan panels 4 from electronic valve radio frequency generators in upper compartments. These are interchangeable and exchangeable and independently operated by on/off switches 8. When the 30-second period has expired a timing device switches off the electromagnet 5 and the door slides open on its own. At the same time the generators are switched off. If desired each compartment can have its own door and own timing device. Pressing one or both buttons 6 extends the heating period to 45 or 60 seconds, respectively. The lower part 1 of the unit houses watercooled magnetron power units, the cooling water being circulated also to the oven walls and radio-frequency generators.
