Abstract

944,917. Dishwashers. JOHN KELLY & SON (KITCHEN ENGINEERS) Ltd. Nov. 13, 1962 [Nov. 14, 1961], No. 40636/61. Heading A4F. A dishwasher comprising a washer tank and pump means for drawing water from the tank and returning it through a duct is characterized in that the ratio of the volume of water drawn per minute from the tank to the normal capacity of the tank is at least 16 to 1. Water is withdrawn from the wash tank 1 through outlet 22 by impeller pump 24 and is fed through duct 19 to inlet 21. A hood 25 mounted above inlet 21 prevents splashing and directs the stream of water diagonally across the tank. The flow pattern thus approximates to a figure of eight as shown. The wash tank may have associated rinsing or sterilizing tanks and each tank is provided with at least one thermostatically controlled electric immersion heater and a lamp to indicate when the heating element is operating. Alternatively the water in the tanks may be heated by a gas burner or steam.
