Abstract
944,637. Ashtrays. GEB. HAPPICH G.m.b.H. Jan. 9, 1962 [June 14, 1961 (2)], No. 833/62. Heading A2M. A tipping ash tray having sliding surfaces 9 and 10 which resiliently thrust against the top of a casing is characterized in that in every position of the ash container the perpendicular S at the point of sliding G to the line connecting the point G and the pivotal point encloses an angle with the tangent T at the point G which is greater than the angle of friction of the surfaces 9 and 10. A spring 4, about the end 3 of which the container pivots, urges the container to the open position. Opening movement is restricted by engagement of stops 13 with the upper edge 11 of the rear wall of the container. The container may be removed from its casing by downward depression of the container against the influence of spring 4 until the edge 11 clears the stops 13. To retain the ash tray closed a hook 19 is provided on the container which co-operates with a cavity 18 in a spring 17 fastened to the casing. The hook is released from the cavity by depression of a plunger 21.
