Abstract

943,444. Firebars. JAMES HODGKINSON (SALFORD) Ltd. Oct. 24, 1962 [Oct. 25, 1961], No. 38144/61. Heading F4B. A fire bar for a reciprocating grate comprises slave bars attached to a main bar by slots engaging members on the main bar so as to allow relative movement between the slaves and the main bar. The slots b in the slave bars B may engage lugs a on the main bars A, Fig. 2, or rollers a<SP>1</SP> on spindles passing through the main bar, Fig. 2a. The slave bars B and main bars A are supported near the driving end by rollers B<SP>2</SP>, A<SP>2</SP> respectively so that they cannot move sideways out of position, Fig. 3. The slots b are of such length that the slave bars B move when the main bars have completed half of their travel.
