In a photographic camera provided with an exposure meter connected to a masking member having an aperture of varying width for automatically adjusting the effective area of the exposure aperture as a function of the intensity of the light illuminating a scene to be photographed, a separate manually operable ma sking means providing an aperture in alignment with the aperture of the first masking member and serving to vary the amount of light passing through the exposure aperture as a function of the shutter speed and/or film sensitivity is provided. In one embodiment Fig. 1 a toothed sector 1, connected to the movable frame 2 of a galvanometer energized by a photo-cell, engages a masking member 4 having a variablewidth aperture 5; manually operable disc 8 has an aperture 9 and carries a shutter speed scale 11. The apertures may be stepped, Fig. 2 (not shown). Member 4 may be directly carried by frame 2, Figs. 3, 4, 5 (none shown).
