Abstract
943,100. Gas filters. DUST CONTROL EQUIPMENT Ltd. March 26, 1962 [March 24, 1961], No. 10809/61. Heading BIT. The upper open mouth of a flat sided gas filter bag, Fig, 1, is secured to a surrounding ring 5 of resilient sealing material, e.g. felt or rubber, which is clamped between the peripheral margin of a slot 3 in a mounting plate 2 and a flange 6a of a spigot 6 seated in the bag mouth. As shown, the ring 5 is enclosed within a hem 4a but in a modification wherein the filter bag material is too stiff to be folded the ring is enclosed in a hem formed in a strip of lighter material which is then stitched to the filter bag mouth. A plurality of such filter bags may be arranged in parallel in a slotted frame 15, 16, Fig. 3, and the clamping spigot for each bag 4 comprises a rectangular sectioned header 9 provided with angled side strips 10 and angled end brackets 11 having a distance piece 12 below the flange portion 11a serving to limit the compression of the rubber sealing ring 4a. Clamping is effected by bolts 13 passing through holes 18 in the frame members 15. The bags may be cleaned by periodic bursts of reverse flow air jets. Specification 914,187 is referred to.
