Abstract
942,716. Winding machines combined with automatic looms. RUTI MACHINERY WORKS Ltd. Feb. 7, 1962 [Feb. 7, 1961], No. 4799/62. Headings D1D, D1E, D1F and D1J. Apparatus for winding weft bobbins on an automatic loom which uses different kinds of weft yarn e.g. in weaving multicoloured fabrics, comprises thread guides corresponding in number to the yarns required and an appropriate one of which is selectively employed in a traverse mechanism during winding of a particular yarn. Wound bobbins are fed to a magazine comprising containers for separately accommodating bobbins of different yarn. A sensing device detects whether a container is full or empty and controls the winding mechanism accordingly. Empty bobbins ejected by the automatic change mechanism of the loom are conveyed to the winding station. In the operation of the apparatus shown, empty bobbins 16 ejected by the bobbin transfer hammer 2 from the shuttle 1 fall into a collecting box 8 from which they slide down a slideway 10. The bobbins are engaged by a (magnetic) gripper of an endless conveyer 12 whereby they are lifted on to a slideway 17 which turns the bobbins into correct alignment and, by means of a detaining device 18, 19, Fig. 4 (not shown) supplies them individually to a conveying trough 20 which feeds each bobbin to a winding device 21. The supplied empty bobbins are stripped of waste thread by conventional apparatus (not shown). If one container e.g. 61, of the magazine is empty, Fig. 3, a contact 61b closes, a magnet 77c is energized, lever 75a brings a pawl 75 into engagement with a ratchet wheel 74, and the movement of the slay 5 rotates wheel 74 until leaf spring 77d engages in recess 77a of a control disc 77 and is pushed thereby against a rod 91 which disengages pawl 75 from wheel 74. A feed lever 44, Fig. 2, has been moved to the position shown by rotation of wheel 74 driving through shaft 70, gears 71, 72, shaft 39 and crank drive 40, 40a, and has pushed a guide 26 into a holder 24 which traverses along a groove 25 during a winding operation. The guide 26 is held in the lever 44 by means of guides 44b, 44c, Fig. 5, against which a head 26b is pressed by a spring 26c and a ball 26d: the end 26e is held in holder 24, Fig. 6, by springs 24a, 24b, through balls 24c, 24a. The thread 55, supplied from one of several cheeses 30, 31, 32, 33, and leading from a clamping and cutting device 44a to eye 26a, is compelled to extend about the empty bobbin in position 55a when the bobbin is inserted by trough 20. As winding commences, a cam 49 opens device 44a to release the thread end and, as a wound bobbin falls into a carrier 53, the thread is engaged by device 44a which is allowed to remain open or is again closed according to whether the next bobbin is to be wound with a similar or different thread. Opening of upper electrical contacts e.g. 61a by a wound bobbin, terminates supply to the particular container and the apparatus will then respond to the conditions in another container. Also if a different thread is then to be wound, the guide 26 is retracted by its feed arm and is replaced by a subsequently selected guide. Wound bobbins from the carrier 53 are passed by a guide 57 into a channel 58 which is pivoted into position, above the container 61-64 to be filled, by an eccentric disc 65 on the control shaft 70 engaging a spring- loaded roller 67a on a rod 66. The contacts 61a-64a and 61b-64b actuate control circuits, Fig. 8 (not shown) comprising relays and condensers which prevent unwarranted energization of magnet coils 77c-80c or interruption of the circuits. Specification 714, 841 is referred to.
