Abstract

Natural and synthetic rubbers are plasticized by mechanical working in the presence of a bis (halogenobenzoyl) mono- or disulphide. The halogen may be chlorine or bromine and the number of halogens in each ring may be from 1 to 5. Exemplified are bis (chlorobenzoyl) mono-sulphide (both o- and p-isomers) and bis (2,4-dichlorobenzoyl) monosulphide with natural rubber and GR-S, and bis (p-chlorobenzoyl) disulphide with natural rubber.
