A device for use in exercising abdominal muscles comprises a rod, a flexible strip attached at its ends to the opposite ends of the rod to form a closed loop, and a strip projecting from the rod and clamped between the side of a door and the door frame. A solid rod 10 with hand grips has a flexible looped member 11 connected to its ends and a tapering strip of leather 12 attached by a swivel ring 13 to the rod and clamped between a door 20 and the frame. The looped member comprises a strip of leather enclosed in a rubber sheath, the ends of leather protruding from the sheath fitting in end grooves in the rod and riveted to the strip. The trunk or legs are exercised by placing the feet in the loop or by gripping the handles and then raising or lowering the trunk or legs.
