Abstract

942,299. Valves; fluid-pressure brakes. D.B.A. S.A. July 4, 1961 [July 8, 1960], No. 24136/61. Headings F2F and F2V. A control valve for a fluid braking system, comprises a valve member 24 adapted to cooperate with a seat 36 between an inlet chamber 38 and a working chamber 32, and also with a second valve seat 30 between the working chamber and an exhaust port 34. The seat 30 is formed on the end of an actuating member 20 having a piston part 44 forming a movable wall of a reaction chamber 46 which has an inlet 50. The valve is operated through a spring 22 to close the chamber 32 from the exhaust 34 and open this chamber to the inlet whereby fluid flows to a motor. The inlet 50 is connected to a point between the outlet 33 of chamber 32 and the motor, preferably adjacent the motor, and this pressure acts on the piston 44 against a spring to reseat the valve 24 on its seat 36 and provide " feel." Such an arrangement allows a quick build up of pressure in the motor as opposed to a valve where the chambers 46 and 32 are the same and the pressure in the working chamber 32 acts directly on the piston member 44. The dimensions of the member 22 are chosen so that a valve is pressure balanced. In the brake system described, a pump supplies fluid to an accumulator through a pressure regulating valve, the accumulator being connected to the inlet 39. The outlet 33 leads to four motors being the brake cylinders at each wheel. Specification 692,969 is referred to.
