Abstract

Hydraulic fluids comprise aqueous solutions of polyethers containing both -(CH2)4-O- groups and -(CH2)2-O- groups, and, if desired, further alkylene-O- groups. Preferred polyethers are those obtained by polymerizing tetrahydrofuran with ethylene oxide alone or with propylene oxide and/or butylene oxide. Optional ingredients are formamide, dimethyl formamide, glycols and their monoesters and mono-ethers, which are exemplified. Specifications 843,240 and 863,410 are referred to.
