Abstract

A circular machine is provided with a series of endless punched strips each of which is capable of controlling the sequence of operations of the machine such that articles of different size can be produced. A feeler is associated with each strip and is actuated by the strip to open and close a switch as determined by the perforations in the strip. An electric lead coupled to a solenoid controlling a bluffing member of a pawl and rachet mechanism driving the pattern drum of the machine, is provided with a plug capable of being engaged in any one of a number of sockets coupled to the switches associated with the pattern strips. By changing the plug from one socket to another a different strip can be caused to control the sequence of operations of the machine and a variation in length of the articles produced achieved.
