Abstract

1, 11-(1,1-Dimethylethylene)-2, 21-dipyridylium dibromide is prepared by heating together 2,21-dipyridyl and 1,2-dibromo-2-methyl-propane at 130 DEG C. for 15 hours. By using 2,3-dibromobutane as the second reagent, 1,11-(1,2-dimethylethylene-2,21-dipyridylium dibromide is obtained.
