939,752. Altimeters. J. D. MULCAHY. June 19, 1962 [June 19, 1961], No. 23505/62. Class 106 (4). To facilitate ease of reading, an aircraft altimeter having hands 15, 16 and 17 for hundreds, thousands and tens of thousands of feet altitude, respectively, is provided with a masking sector 11 which obscures the multiple - units hands 16 and 17 in an altitude range within which they are not required. Hands 16 and 17 have characteristic protruding portions 18 and 19 respectively so that an advance indication will be given a little while before a given hand enters its desired indicating range. The units hand may also lie behind the mask its tip extending beyond the mask periphery. The different hands may be different colours.
