Abstract

938,460. Ironing boards; woven fabrics; coated fabrics. TEXTILE MILLS CO. June 15, 1962, No. 23184/62. Classes 74 (2), 138 (2) and 140. An ironing board cover comprises a fabric woven from fibres of low and high resistance to heat, the latter being confined to a central longitudinal ironing zone 25. Cotton is used throughout the cover, with perhaps some rayon, and asbestos is used in the central zone 25 only. The central zone 25 is 20-80% asbestos, and may be 50% asbestos with 50% cotton or 44% cotton and 6% rayon. The cover may have a heat-reflective coating of aluminium flake in a binder, e.g. synthetic resin, with a silicone additive.
