Abstract
938,196. Ventilators. G. SCHARF, and H. GREFE, [trading as GRESCHA-GESELLSCHAFT, GREFE & SCHARF]. Feb. 23, 1962 [Feb. 24, 1961], No. 7063/62. Class 137. A device for the hydraulic remote control of a ventilating system comprises at least one hydraulic motor situated at or near one end of pressure pipes connected to a pump situated at or near the other end of the pipes, and whose driving shaft drives self-locking worm gears or spindle gears which adjust the ventilating system. As shown, Fig. 1, a system for a multistorey building has at each floor an hydraulic pump 10, 10a, 10b such as a gear pump which may be manually or motor operated, these pumps being connected in series in a pressure pipe 11. A number of hydraulic drive units 13 are connected in parallel between the pipe 11 and a return pipe 12, the output shaft of each unit driving a worm gear, either directly or through gearing. When small control movements only are required, a link 37a connected with the ventilator control linkage may be driven by a worm-wheel meshing with the worm gear, or a nut mounted on the worm shaft and having an integral arm pivotally connected to a ventilator adjusting lever may be used. For larger control movements, the worm-wheel shaft 34, Fig. 5, may carry a pinion 35 meshing with a sliding gear rack 36 which is connected by a link 37 to one end of a centrally pivoted lever 38 the other end of which is connected to a ventilator flap 39. One or more pressure relief valves 40 may be mounted between the pipes 11 and 12, Figs. 1 and 6, with an hydraulic fluid reservoir 50 integral with the valve casing 40. Two cup-shaped valve members 41 are pressed against seats 49 at the ends of the valve casing by a single spring 52, while two valve members 44 are held against seats in the members 41 by a single spring 46. Spring loaded ball valves 47 and 48 control flow between the reservoir 50 and the valve chamber. An hydraulic pressure amplifier may be interposed between the pumps 10 and the drive units 13. A drive unit 13 comprising a rotary piston hydraulic motor having three sealing blades mounted in the piston is described (Fig. 4, not shown).
