938,135. Safety belts. VOLVO A.B. Oct. 30, 1961 [July 6, 1961], No. 38800/61. Class 141. A mounting for a safety belt which is to be used in conjunction with a sliding adjustable vehicle seat comprises a bar 3 fastened to the floor of the vehicle and passing through a sliding mounting member 10 with a small clearance so that tilting of the member 10 causes it to grip the bar 3. The member 10 is pivotably attached at 11 to a part 12 (Fig. 1), or 15 (Fig. 2), for connection with the lock of the belt. In the embodiment of Fig. 1, the member 10 is held in a vertical position out of engagement with the bar 3 for adjusting purposes by means of a member 4 fastened to the seat and pivoted to a member 6 which has a slot 7 in which the pivot 11 may slide and a plate 8 which presses one side of the member 10 against the force of a spring 9 mounted on the plate 8. In the embodiment of Fig. 2, the member 10 is kept out of engagement with the bar 3 by a member 13 attached to the seat and slotted at 14 to take the member 10. A tension in the connecting member 12 or 15 causes the member 10 to tilt and engage the bar 3.
