Abstract
937,880. Automatic speed control. NIPPON ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Oct. 14, 1960 [Oct. 14, 1959], No. 35342/60. Class 38 (4). Relates to a magnetic tape recorder for television signals comprising a rotating head assembly 8 driven by motor 7. During the reproducing operation, a reference vertical synchronizing signal from a local generator 1 is passed through a variable delay line or phase modulating circuit 2 to a phase difference detector 4. The motor is coupled to a speed detector 5 also applying a signal to the detector 4 for controlling the frequency of oscillator 6 and hence the speed of the motor. A signal reproduced by the assembly 8 is derived from an amplifier and detector 9, the reference and reproduced signals being applied to a phase difference detector 3 the output of which controls the circuit 2 so that these signals are synchronized. In a modification, an additional reference horizontal synchronizing signal source is provided, together with a further phase difference detector and variable delay circuit, Fig. 2 (not shown).
