Abstract

<PICT:0937307/IV(a)/1> Plant for finishing textile garments comprises a treating chamber which can be closed to enclose garments mounted on forms in a treating zone, a showering means located above said treating zone, a liquor feed pump connected at one side to said showering means and at the other side to a liquor drain from the chamber, means for introducing steam into the closed chamber so that it contacts the form-mounted garments, and hot air blowing and evacuating means associated with said chamber. As shown stockings on forms 8 carried by a carriage 7 are in treating zone A beneath bell 1. A fresh carriage carrying untreated stockings is ready outside the treating zone. On completion of the treating cycle on the first stockings the carriage of untreated stockings is moved along tracks 2 to displace the treated stockings. The fresh carriage closes a switch to start the rotation of a control camshaft. This first operates valve 69 to release jacks 3 to lower bell 1. During the descent of bell 1 switch 67 is operated to stop fans 61, 62 which have been circulating drying air over the previous batch of stockings. When the bell has reached its bottom position in contact with base 2 a second cam actuates valve 70 to bring into operation bell locking means. A third cam then actuates valve 74 to close valve 26 and the drain from chamber 1, 2, and a fourth cam operates valve 71 controlling valve 11 so that steam flows through tube 9 into the chamber. The steam is controlled at a temperature of about 225 DEG F. by thermostat 56 and the stockings are preboarded for about 30 seconds. Valve 71 is then operated to close valve 11 and at the same time valve 74 is actuated to open drain/exhaust valve 26 whilst a further cam opens vents 14. The next operative cam then re-actuates valve 74 to close valve 26 and at the same time valve 81 is operated to trigger off valve 22 to supply a predetermined quantity of dye solution from tank 19 to the chamber, via pump 24, temperature controlled heat exchanger 27 and spray 18. The dye liquor collects at the bottom of chamber 1, 2 which is connected by pipe 16 to the suction side of pump 24. Once the predetermined quantity has been delivered this quantity is recirculated in a closed system for a predetermined time. Simultaneously a metering valve 49 and water valve 51 are operated to admit appropriate make-up solutions to tank 19. After the dyeing treatment there is a further cam operation of valve 74 and valve 26 is opened to drain away the dye solution. Following p this, vents 14 are closed and steam valve 11 re-opened to flush the system through. There may also be partial drying and some postboarding of the stockings. Steam valve 11 is then closed and vents 14 opened. Valve 70 is then actuated to unlock the bell and valve 69 to raise it. When the rising bell trips switch 67, fans 61 and 62 are started to circulate hot air over the stockings to dry them, thus completing the cycle of operations. Specification 810,605 is referred to.
