Abstract

936,656. Pulse circuits. TELEFUNKEN G.m.b.H. Dec. 3, 1959 [Dec. 3, 1958], No. 41057/59. Class 40 (6). A relaxation oscillator having a saw-tooth relaxation characteristic 1 is synchronized by saw-tooth pulses 5, the slope of the forward flank of which is of opposite sign to that of the characteristic 1. The nominal natural frequency of the oscillator is such that the rear flank 6 intersects the relaxation line at the natural transition point. As shown, frame synchronizing pulses 9 for a a television receiver are obtained from the separator stage 8 via a multiple integrating circuit 7. The line synchronizing pulses 18 are removed by means of a biased diode 10. Waveform 9 drives valve 12 into grid current, charging capacitor 11 and cutting-off the anode current until capacitor 11 has discharged via resistor 15, giving waveform 19. Valve 12 passes anode current during the hatched portion of waveform 19 providing a negative going sawtooth waveform 21 at the anode which is used to synchronize a blocking oscillator or multi-vibrator type of time base generator 14. The relaxation waveform 1 of the oscillator 14 is shown in Fig. 2; the free-running frequency being adjusted so that the transition point 6, when free-running, coincides with the centre of the trailing edge of the synchronizing pulse 21.
