Abstract

A fluxing composition for use in foundry processes in the form of a briquette consists of powdered fluorspar and a binder, each briquette having a known content of calcium fluoride and the binder having no undersirable effect on the process. The binder may be cement and the fluorspar : cement ratio by weight may be 80 : 20 to 90 : 10. Tar, resin, oil or sodium silicate may also be used as binder.
