A desk comprises a drawing board assembly hinged to guides 19 sliding in vertical guideways 20 in the body of the desk, such that the assembly may be stored within the enclosure 11 closed by lid 12, or withdrawn to rest on the table top 14 when in use. The assembly comprises a base framework 15 whose forward edge is hinged to the front edge of drawing board 16, and struts 17 hinged to the board and resting in notches in base 15.
